Cipe pineles spread design

Cipe Pineles was one of the most prominent designers of the twentieth century. She was one of the first female art directors to work at a major magazine. She did work for Glamour, Seventeen, and Charm. She had an inspirational talent combining typography and imagining to make captivating and visually aesthetic spreads.

This spread was a biography piece dedicated to Cipe Pineles and inspired by her work from her magazines. I wanted to captivate her bold design choices, her elegant imaging, and the empowering stature of her place in the graphic design industry. I chose very dynamic and captivating imagery to demand attention just as she did. The use of negative space in this spread allows each element to confidently take over the page without overwhelming the space. I used colored text to draw the attention to the typographical hierarchy. The typefaces used in this spread are Caslon Book Regular, ItalicOsf, and Medium SC.
